Take ONE action towards your goal today! 🎯

I always felt that even if how I did something was all wrong, at least showing up for myself and doing something every day towards my goal couldn’t be wrong. 😆 I like to focus on something I CAN do, not what I can’t. Meet yourself where you are!!! ❤️

Here are some examples from my own mental scripts over during the last 3 years that led to success in my journey:

  • Everything hurts. I haven’t slept. I can’t even walk but I CAN follow my nutritional goals and the list of foods from Dr. Westman to get the weight off.
  • Upcoming travel! (Brain panicking about what to eat) I CAN do my best to find these “low carb list friendly” options along the way or take my own.
  • I can’t deal with food pushers but I CAN be polite and think of an answer to give them that doesn’t offend them and keeps me from making a decision that is not in line with my goals.
  • I don’t always have will power, but I CAN figure out HOW to do whatever it takes to do this because it IS necessary.
  • I can’t do this. I don’t really know how, but I DO have the ability to figure it out. I am NOT a failure. I am NOT dumb. I am smart and I am worth it.
  • I don’t know if this is working because nothing has ever worked before but I CAN trust the process.
  • What if it doesn’t work for me? 😰 I CAN message my team of support and reach out for help.
  • I can’t put myself out there. I am afraid of what to say but I CAN make a small effort to get out of my comfort zone and see how I feel.
  • I can’t seem to figure this stuff out, but I CAN set an intention today and see what happens.
  • My weight is stuck. I don’t know what to do, but I CAN give up cream in my coffee for a few weeks and see what happens.
  • I can’t do a live interview or tell my story in front of others! (enter panic mode 😆) I don’t know what to say! What if I mess up? I guess I CAN write stuff down to help me remember and trust Dr. Westman and the safety of our private group. 💜
  • I need to get stronger. I don’t know how to work out, but I CAN figure it out. Just do more than I did yesterday!
  • I can’t get to a gym but I CAN workout at home.
  • I can’t workout today because I have a cold and don’t feel great but I CAN walk.
  • I can’t do sit-ups! 😫 BUT, I CAN do one or two if I hook my feet under my dresser and pull myself up by the pants leg. (Now I can do loads without holding on or hooking my feet).
  • I can’t jump rope! This is so hard but I CAN refuse to give up and do this every day until I get better at it.
  • I am exhausted. I have too much to do and can’t get it all done but I CAN take a rest day, reasses my plan and simplify things.”

DO something!

Doing SOMETHING not only makes you feel better mentally but also sets you up for better daily habits and success along the way. This always revolves around a SIMPLE plan you CAN do and the better you get at it, the more evolved or involved your plan can be (or not 🙃). But, as you grow and learn, you should and CAN get better at all of this. 😃

Just do the work. Pick one simple thing to do every day, no matter how small. Do that every day until successful, then add another. Repeat.😊

Here are some actions I took helped and may give you some ideas…

  • Physical work – setting my environment up for my success, planning (meals, grocery, dining out menu preview, travel, special events, etc…) meal prepping, walking, resistance training.
  • Mental work – my why, my behaviors, setting my intentions every day, my wins, dealing with my emotions and behaviors, examining my teachable moments where I missed the mark (hate the word failure), reading, studying, learning from resources (like the HUB).
  • Recovery work – self care, resting physically, mentally and emotionally, loving myself, not neglecting myself or using outside demands as an excuse for not doing what’s necessary to address what *I* need first (this is not selfish if it is not at anyone else’s expense), nurturing myself when needed, encouraging myself, and giving myself grace.
  • Doing the work keeps me headed in the direction of my goals instead of stagnant, unmotivated, and going the opposite direction! If you aren’t taking action towards your goals, what are you doing and which way are you going? Doing nothing IS a choice, too.
