With the July 4 holiday weekend upon us, I’m thinking about what it means to be free.
In my life, I have been held back by so many things. Most of it was a product of my own doing. As a young person, I was shy and probably a little insecure. I’m still shy, but it is not the handicap that used to govern so many of my decisions.
When I was in college, I began to develop much needed confidence but as time went on and being overweight became a factor in my life and one of which I struggled with for decades, my lack of success with losing weight began to erode my mind and my confidence and my belief in myself.

Weightloss and being on a diet seemed to be something that overshadowed my life constantly and moved from the forefront of my mind to the back of my mind depending on where I was in my journey with it. Can anyone else relate???
Failure imprisoned my mind with self-doubt and obesity and chronic pain imprisoned my body. By the time I found Dr. Westman and his Keto Made Simple Masterclass (see my Resources page), I was a broken person, obese, and at the end of my rope. It was astounding to me what changing a few things with just my food did! It began to heal my body and set me free! However, being on the other side of it now, I realize that losing the weight was only the smallest factor.

Having success at weightloss, gaining momentum, reconnecting with other people and opening my heart and becoming vulnerable to life again began to break away the chains of not only physical pain, but also the chains of failure mindsets and inadequacies that had imprisoned my spirit for 30 years, but this process was not easy. It took trust and a little courage, a lot of patience and daily work on myself. Some things were intentional and other things happened by accident. Either way, the amount of self growth that happened because I allowed it to happen began to stir up new life inside of me and brought me back to life. The funny thing is, I didn’t even know how much my life was lacking until this happened.

How did all this happen?
I made a goal.
I found a good reason why I needed to do it every day.
I got some help.
I took small steps.
I created intentions every day -determining to do whatever necessary to realize those intentions no matter how long it took.
