Good Monday Morning! As I sit here in the early hours with my coffee, I am ever aware that the demands of my life have kept me from blogging the last few weeks. Additionally, sometimes there just isn’t anything inspiring to say. 馃槀 LOL In light of that, I am taking today in a different direction and a bit more practical and hope somehow it might be enjoyable to read and beneficial for someone who may stop in for a visit to my blog. I am still new to blogging and developing how and what I want to contribute. Either way, I hope to just bring some joy and inspiration to anyone who needs it.

Part of the reason I have been so busy has been due to a week of intentional “play” and time with my family. Last week, I took several days to work in some time doing something fun every day. This was a nice diversion from my usual chores and time at the gym, which I try and make a priority. Adding fitness to my life the last year or so has drastically improved my quality of life and my abilities to do things in my daily life and I never want to take that for granted. That being said, taking time to relax, play, and connect with loved ones is equally important!

My first day of play was a beach day. There managed to be a beautiful rain free day that was a little less humid than usual, so my daughter and I took advantage of it! We packed our chairs & umbrellas and I made some low carb food to take along. I took nice long walks, soaked up some sun and had the best time just being present – no phone, no texts, no social media, just the simple joy of nature and family.

Epcot Day

Our next adventure was Epcot. We are big Disney fans. It was VERY hot this day, so we got there early. It was also during the Food & Wine festival, so we got to sample some yummy things, all of which were low carb/keto. Great options for me! Needless to say, I got loads of walking in and even got talked into riding a thrill ride. That was definitely an adventure that I can at least say I did once. LOL

Magic Kingdom Day

Our final day of adventure for the week was Magic Kingdom. Even though it’s August, they already had the Fall decor up! It was a bit cooler than the day before and the cloudy day and change in the pattern of the sun let me know that Fall is indeed on its way. We began with a wonderful lunch at Grand Floridian Cafe. I looked at the menu ahead of time and got my steak and eggs with a veggie instead of the starch it usually comes with. This is a favorite restaurant of mine and the prices are decent.

We enjoyed a couple of rides but mainly took the day slow. We just walked, talked, shopped, watched people, and watched kids. It truly is a blessing to be able to go to a place like this, where there are sugar laden treats at every corner and not feel deprived or tempted. It is one of the biggest changes and benefits of a keto diet for me. I am no longer a slave to cravings or driven by those foods. That being said, I do plan ahead and stay prepared. I always pack some low carb snacks in my bag.

By the end of the evening, we returned to the Grand Floridian Resort where we had had lunch and parked earlier. We found their quick service grab and go food service and a table overlooking Cindrella’s castle, where we could view the fireworks from afar. I had a chicken Ceasar Salad, minus the croutons and a sparkling water. A perfect end to the day.

鈥婭t is simply freeing to be able to enjoy the simple things in life and focus on being present in the moment. Life is a treasure and a gift that we only get once.
